• To equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice as clinicians
capable of providing primary eye care.
• To function effectively as community health leaders, contributing to the
implementation of the National Programme for the Control of Blindness and the
rehabilitation of visually impaired individuals.
• Provide knowledge about common eye problems, including the principles of
managing major ophthalmic emergencies and understanding the effects of local and
systemic diseases on the eyes.
1. Create awareness about:
• The magnitude of blindness in India and its primary causes.
• Eye care education for patients to prevent eye problems.
• The role of primary health centres in organizing eye camps.

Wards should have wall-mounted suction lines along with piped wall-mounted central O2 lines on at least 5 beds.
Wards should have resuscitation equipment like laryngoscope, all-size endotracheal tubes, nasal and oral airways, Magill’s forceps, LMA / PLMA of all sizes, Electrical suction apparatus, AED -1.
Operation theatres should have wall/dongle-mounted suction lines along with piped wall/dongle-mounted central gas (O2, NO2) lines.
Operation theatres should have resuscitation equipment like Anesthesia machine and accessories such as laryngoscope, all-size endotracheal tubes, nasal and oral airways, Magill’s forceps, Mechanical ventilator (separate or with anesthesia machine), LMA / PLMA of all sizes, Electrical suction apparatus.
