Train physicians to be well-versed in medico-legal responsibilities and develop skilled experts in forensic medicine.
Objective
Recognize and address medico-legal issues arising in hospital and general practice, and work towards resolving them effectively.
Fulfil the medico-legal responsibilities of a general physician in criminal cases, community service, and clinical medico-legal cases.
Diagnose and manage common poisoning cases while understanding their legal implications.
Conduct and document post-mortem examinations, noting medico-legal aspects, findings, and drawing logical conclusions, while collecting, preserving, and dispatching trace evidence.
Analyze and interpret histopathological, radiological, chemical, DNA, and other reports for medico-legal purposes.
Provide expert testimony and depose evidence in courts of law as an expert witness.
Uphold and communicate the principles of medical ethics in relation to patients, the medical profession, and adherence to the code of medical ethics.
